Rose Flower Tattoo

Rose Flower Tattoo

Do you have a thing for roses?  Would you want to get a rose flower tattoo inked on your body?  My girlfriend wanted to get a rose tattooed on the top of her shoulder and asked me if I would do the tattoo for her.  Being the nice guy that I am I told her of course I would put the rose tattoo on her.

So, I started getting all my tattoo gear out and began cleaning the equipment. As I was busy cleaning all the tattoo equipment as to not spread any kind of germs or diseases, I couldn't help but worry that she wouldn't be able to handle the pain.  I would have felt a little better about this tattoo if we had a little bit of liquor for her to drink prior to getting this rose tattoo.

I finished setting up all my tattoo equipment and got ready to start tattooing. Thought she was about to back out but she shocked me.  She was ready to get her new rose tattoo stuck.  I fired up my tattoo machine and started letting the ink flow.  I was pretty proud of her as she didn't squirm and squeal nearly as much as I thought she would.

After an hour, she had a brand new rose tattoo!

My First Tattoo

My First Tattoo I Ever Received

It may have been quite a long time ago when I got my first tattoo at the tender age of 18, but I still remember that night like it was yesterday.  One of my best friends had gone to the tattoo shop a week before and he got a grip reaper tattoo on the chest.  Well, I let him fool me and tell me that it didn't hurt.

So, I decided the following week that I would also get a grip reaper tattoo on the chest for my first tattoo.  The grim reaper tattoo I chose was just some regular tattoo flash that hangs on the walls in all tattoo shops.  I did not expect the tattoo to take two and a half hours!

After getting the outline done I was eager for a break. I needed a cigarette so bad I could almost taste it.  I am not sure if taking a break was the right thing to do or not as I was not looking forward to finishing this tattoo one bit.

Well, I squirmed a bit but tried to remain still during the shading and color phases of the tattoo.  At this point, the skin was so tender that barely touching the tattooed area was painful.  When it was all said and done, I was very happy with my new tattoo but it would be a while before I ventured into getting another tattoo.

Getting Your First Tattoo

Are you thinking about getting your first tattoo? Awesome! But, don't rush into it as it is a very important decision and cannot be easily undone. Tattoos are forever, well for the most part.  Although, we have technology now days to remove tattoos that are no longer desired.

When picking out your first tattoo you should make sure that it means something to you and isn't just some random piece of flash art. Many people make the mistake of just picking out something that looks cool at the time and then later on wonder what they were thinking.

It's usually a good idea to plan out your first tattoo so that maybe you won't regret getting the tattoo later on in life. Choose something with meaning to you and that you feel you can live with for the rest of your life.

What To Do If Your Tattoo Gets Infected

Are you worried that the last tattoo you got may be infected? If you get a tattoo and it becomes infected, you may be in for a bit of pain and torment. Infected tattoos hurt and become very sore, very fast. How can you tell if a tattoo gets infected?

Infected Tattoo
How can you tell if your tattoo is infected?

  • Redness Around Tattoo - Check for redness and skin irritation around the tattoo.
  • Soreness - If your new tattoo is more sore than normal, keep a close eye on the  new tattoo to ensure it isn't infected.
  • Open Sores - If your tattoo isn't healing properly and has what looks like open sores then your tattoo is infected!
What To Do If Your Tattoo Is Infected
If you have a tattoo that becomes infected here is a short list of what you should do immediately:
  • Go see your doctor a.s.a.p. He or she will probably give you some antibiotics to help the healing process along.
  • Try not to get the infected tattoo wet, cover it up when taking a shower or bath. Getting infected tattoos wet is strongly advised against as it prevents proper healing in a timely manner.
  • Keep tattoo clean and A&D ointment applied on it.
How Did My Tattoo Get Infected?
There are a couple of different scenarios which your latest tattoo could become infected. If your tattoo artist did not clean all his tattoo equipment properly and with the right type of cleansing products, there is a good chance for getting an infected tattoo. Another way of getting an infected tattoo is because of the tattoo needle going to deep. The tattoo artist may have went too deep and this can cause an infection.

Choosing Tattoo Needles For Outlining

So, you're all ready to start tattooing and need to order some tattoo needles? First of all, you must be aware of the different types of tattoo needles. If you are doing an outline of a tattoo, then you would want to get round liners for the tattoo needles. Round liners are used for doing the actual outline of a tattoo. They come in a variety of sizes depending on your desired result. The top three tattoo needles I use for doing outlines are the #3 round liner, #7 round liner, and the #9 round liner. The higher the number the more needles it will have and the thicker your outline will be.

Learn About Tattoing Blog Launched!

I'm glad you have landed on my blog about learning to tattoo. If you have ever considered becoming a tattoo artist but were afraid you didn't have what it takes, then maybe you just didn't understand the art of tattooing. One big misconception about tattooing is that you have to be able to draw and draw well. This couldn't be further from the truth. If you can trace lines on paper then you can stick a tattoo! Now, that being said, if you can draw then you have an extra advantage over other amateur tattoo artist who haven't quite improved their drawing and art skills. There are many good books on learning how to draw and learning how to tattoo but it will take patience and practice. Before you can begin your tattooing career you will first need to get the necessary tattoo supplies. You will need at least one tattoo gun, a power supply, tubes, grips, tips, needles, stencil paper, rubbing alcohol, and of course tattoo inks! When it comes to supplies, quality does indeed matter. As with anything else in life, there are cheap tattoo equipment and more expensive tattoo gear. One are you will not want to cut back on is on the tattoo ink. The ink makes a huge difference and some of the cheaper inks are simply not worth your time or money. If you want a better quality tattoo, start with better quality tattoo equipment. Check back often for more information for tattooing as I will be updating this blog often with bits and pieces of information relating to tattooing.
